We will then call you to discuss your visit. If you are all set to book, just pop us an email with your full name, mailing address and a cell phone number. We take a 50% deposit and final payment is due 60 days prior to arrival. We’ll talk about all that when you are ready to book.
Do you offer any discounts?
Our rates are posted on this website. And, once you stay with us, we do offer special discounts at certain times of the year for our previous renters only. In order to be fair to all of our renters, we do not offer any other discounts.

Maximum occupancy and can I add more guests after booking?
We adhere to NC Vacation Rental Act maximum occupancies of two people per bedroom. Therefore, The Pond House maximum occupancy is 6 (that includes adults and children). We do not allow large parties, family reunions, weddings, etc. to be hosted at The Pond. Our gated community is quiet and peaceful, and there isn’t additional parking nor facilities on site.
If you book with less than the maximum occupancy and later would like to invite more guests after you have signed the Rental Agreement, please discuss with us first. We have the right to approve or disapprove. We schedule rentals and housekeeping following your departure based on the number of guests and may not have time in between rentals for additional guests. If approved, additional cleaning fees may apply.
Please also discuss with us prior to booking if you are in town to visit family/friends and want to invite them over to the house. All visiting guests also have to be approved prior to booking.
What happens if we have to cancel?
No refunds are made unless the property can be re-rented for the same period and rate. There are travel protection policies available, please discuss this upon booking.
Are the roads paved? Are the roads scary and narrow?
The roads leading into our community are paved. The Pond’s driveway is paved. The roads in our community do wind around and up, but they are wide enough to pass. Many mountain roads, including our community, do not have street lights. We always suggest our visitors arrive during daylight hours.
Will our cell phones work?
Most cell service providers do work at the house. We also have free Wi-fi and DirecTV. There is a land line at the house.
How far is the grocery store?
The grocery store is less than 3 miles from the house.
Why do you have an exit cleaning fee?
When you arrive, beds will be made up with fresh linens and towels are provided. In addition, we provide initial supplies so when you arrive you will have things like tissues, dish and laundry detergents, etc. We do provide shampoo and bath gels. The house will be clean, and everything ready for you. We stay busy! So the house won’t smell musty or unused. When you leave there is little to do; no stripping beds, starting laundry, etc. It’s easy.
My dog is trained and travels well, would you allow pets?
No, unfortunately we no longer allow pets. Even the most well trained pets can act totally out of character when in a strange environment. Our furnishings and décor are not the normal rental type. We believe that a vacation should be just that. There are so many activities in our area that are not pet friendly and you don’t need to cut your day short to get back to let the dog out, or worry about expensive damages while you are gone.
