Great Motorcycle Rides - Western North Carolina!vacation rentals franklin highlands north carolina

To get you even more excited about visiting our area we’ve provided some published Motorcycle Rides that we know you'll enjoy. The Pond is a great place to base your motorcycle trip. All roads are easily accessible from the house. There’s nothing better than returning to The Pond after a spectacular ride, enjoy a beverage of choice, recall all the favorite spots, and ponder your next day from the peace & quiet of the screened porch or large deck. Each of the rides provide maps, however, you will need to modify them slightly so that each day you start out and return to The Pond. A couple of the rides are great if you are coming from Georgia into North Carolina. There are many, many more areas to explore than just these rides. We suggest you visit our links page for more information on area rides and personal experiences of other riders. These rides are just a sampling of those listed on, Motor Cycle Adventures Book 1 and Book 2, by Hawk Hagebak, and published by Milestone Press, Inc.

So saddle up and come experience the breathtaking scenery of Western North Carolina.

1. Voted by Forbes Magazine as one of the Top 10 Legendary Motorcycle Rides, "The Dragon" is among the most internationally well-known roads in the world with motorcyclists. Though it's only 11 miles long, riders encounter 318 curves on a rollercoaster ride through the Smoky Mountains at the Tennessee / North Carolina state line. Deal's Gap is to motorcycle riding what the Tour De France is to bicycle racing, what the Indy 500 is to auto racing, and what the Super Bowl is to football ... this is it!" Jim Penske, Founder of the Association of Motorcycle Riders of America.

2. The Waterfall Byway - This road starts within 2 miles of the house. Along this road you will see the Cullasaja River Gorge that has carved its way through the Smokey Mountains. The road passes by and through over ten beautiful waterfalls and is the reason it is known as the “Waterfall Byway”. Another highlight of this road is Dry Falls. Here you can hike a short trail and walk under the 75 foot waterfall. At Bridal Veil Falls you can ride your bike behind the falls for that souvenir photo opportunity. The ride travels through the towns of Highlands and Cashiers, North Carolina.
